In my work I am interested in the place where human endeavor and nature meet. Through a number of mediums including wood carving, ceramics, drawing and video I strive to explore the fine edge of our relationship with our environment. The marks of vanished cultures as well as those of our own are of fertile interest to me in documenting survival in a beautiful and harsh world. In my work I find it important to balance the traditional solitude of studio work with aspects that are done in the real world, such as drawing, capturing video or building sculpture from found materials.
